New input for one of the bestsellers by Kristalia, the Thin-K table designed by Luciano Bertoncini.

Now, the aluminium tops are also available in genuine wood veneer with brush-effect, a technique that highlights the natural grain of wood.

It is still a challenge for Kristalia and the designer to keep an extremely thin top: only 6 mm. Has there ever been such a slimline and resistant wood top?

But the challenge does not end here. New dimensions have been developed for the table, up to almost 3 metres.

“DERMA” Mirror \ Gianluca Sgalippa

Posted: 13 Mar 2013 08:55 AM PDT

Following the success of the Shaky vase, Enzyma has now launched Derma. It’s the second piece in a new collection of furnishing items resulting from Gianluca Sgalippa’s decision to broaden his horizons.

Derma, which is Enzyma’s first mirror, has a unique style that stems from an original and bold study of geometry. The irregular and asymmetric contour of the frame takes its shape from the continuous, modular repetition of an equilateral triangle. The points of convergence are markedly visible between one module and the next and create a very evident grid between the triangles. These triangles look like large scales and form a solid pattern enclosing a hexagonal mirror. The frame is also embellished by fluoro-coloured segments, irregularly arranged inside the slender grooves.

From a strictly iconographic point of view, Derma was inspired by the pictorial artworks of Theo van Doesbrg, Max Bill and Tomás Maldonado. The Derma mirror is more than just a simple mirror and less than a wall. Thanks to its unmistakable design, it can be placed anywhere in the home to enhance the style and design of any space.

Gianluca Sgalippa, designer, critic and promoter of numerous initiatives related to design culture, is the founder of Enzyma and also looks after its project management. The enterprise fits into the realm of in-house production and “independent” releases, which in the last decade has experienced considerable success, particularly among the younger generation of creative talent. The product identity is characterised by limited editions: in fact, each specimen is numbered and specially created upon request by the customer. The collections are circulated exclusively through ecommerce and are available at www.enzyma.it.

WEWOOD’s philosophy is to enhance the high-end joinery, the raw material (hardwood), the innovation and the Portuguese design in each produced piece, never forgetting the work of employees, partners and suppliers, thus we feel proud to be part of WEWOOD's family.

WEWOOD is a partnerships’ platform with designers, architects and young talents, which has as base of its collections the design combined with high-end joinery, these are produced by the experienced hands of artisans featuring the most sophisticated technology.

WEWOOD presents his collection with signed and numbered products, ensuring the uniqueness in each piece. Design, sophistication, tradition and ecology are points which we don't give up. All pieces are original and of a great environmental concern during its production. Cross-culturally and versatile, these pieces excel for the simplicity and the purity of its lines.

WEWOOD revitalizes the traditional coat hanger, many times lost behind the door of our grandparents and parents. Designed by GUDCONSPIRACY, "CANCAN" assumes a dual personality: its functional character and its aesthetic sense as piece of design.

Inspired on "CANCAN" dance, the four identical pieces are tied up together with a single leather cord, which creates a visual pattern reminiscent of the corsets used by the dancers. The hanger is a synthesis of dance movement.

Traditionally 'cancan' dancers must be 1,70m height, which is the same height of the coat hanger.

It is assumed as a stable, functional, stylish and above all a surprising piece.

Vase “SHAKY” \ Gianluca Sgalippa

Posted: 13 Mar 2013 07:01 AM PDT

The furniture collection with the brand Enzyma (www.enzyma.it), launched in November 2011, has gained wide and important feedback. After having established the identity of the brand through a line of furnishings with a bold and sophisticated image, Gianluca Sgalippa, founder of Enzyma, extends the range of types of proposals to the sphere of accessories and complements.

The ceramic vase Shaky, the first element of this new approach, was born as a provocative and surreal object. It is an abstract presence, characterized by a clear geometry, placing it outside of time and a specific space.

E Shaky Gianluca Sgalippa 1 600x669 Vase

A cylindrical volume, elongated, bends and, describing a semicircle, draws a U?turn. But one of the two legs does not touch the ground plane: in addition to interrupt a perfect geometry, this asymmetry generates a feeling of instability. Not surprisingly, in English "shaky" describes a person having difficulty in walking and standing. The balance of the vase is guaranteed by a metallic weight placed on the bottom of the other leg.

The flowers are inserted into the slot at the top of the curve and can be housed either in one or the other leg or in
both.

Gianluca Sgalippa

(Milan, 1966) graduated in Architecture at the Politecnico of Milan, where he also completed his PhD in Industrial Design.

As a freelance professional, he is active in various areas of small?scale design: interior design, product design, lighting, staging, visual communication and street furniture. Projects and achievements signed by him are reviewed by numerous magazines. He is Professor of Design System at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan. He also has an intense journalistic activity as a writer and design critic.

From 2003 to 2011 he was director of the magazine "BagnoDesign" and in the years 2010?2011, he directed the web magazine www.mixdesign.it.

He published the following books: Quando il prodotto diventa luogo (Franco Angeli, 2002), Postbagno. Corpo, ambiente e design nell'età delle mutazioni tipologiche (Tecniche Nuove, 2006) e TransDesign. L'identità ibrida e contaminata dei prodotti d'inizio millennio (Tecniche Nuove, 2008).

ENZYMA: SECOND GENERATION

After one year from its foundation, Enzyma brand has gathered ample feedback both in terms of public and press. In 2013, the editions of the brand, which specializes in the creation and on?line sales of exclusive furniture, start up again through a full program of novelties launched throughout the year.

Besides confirming its affinity to craftsmanship, Enzyma enhances its stylistic vocation identified ever since its foundation. The models are small in size, easy to fit in the various rooms of the house and office, but they also have a strong, determined identity. Of high quality, all objects have a strong personality, contrasting the current trend of "understatement". Despite the global crisis pushing consumption and creativity towards an imaginary marked by the "ordinary" and "traditional", Enzyma proposes sophisticated objects, able to characterize every environment with an individual imprint. While expressing a contemporary dimension, Enzyma models are distinguished by a timeless taste that does not pass by with the everchanging fashion trends.

The brand Enzyma (registered trademark, valid throughout the European Community) has been founded by Gianluca Sgalippa (designer, critic and promoter of numerous activities related to the culture of design), who also takes care of the project management. The initiative is fully expressed by the realm of self?production and "independent" editions, that in the last decade has seen a remarkable statement, especially among the younger generation of creative professionals. The identity of the product is the one of a limited edition piece (each piece is numbered and produced specifically for the customer). The spread of the collections is entrusted exclusively to the formula of ecommerce, which takes place only through the site www.enzyma.it.
